Robert A.M. Stern

Robert A.M. Stern is one of America’s most urbane architects—he stands both for the sophistication of the skyline and for the success of the street; sensitive to the spirit of place, he carries forward the continuity of tradition. With One Bennett Park, Stern and RAMSA Partner Daniel Lobitz celebrate Chicago’s history of great skyscrapers while designing a thoroughly modern 21st-century residential tower.

The tower’s elegant masonry facades will beautifully return sunlight to the city , and the shifting patterns of the windows will offer a hint of the variety of generously proportioned residences within. The result is a new center of gracious living in one of the world’s great cities.

The closer you are to a park, the higher the quality of your life in a city. Bennett Park is literally the backyard of this wonderful new Robert A.M. Stern Architects’ building.

Michael Van Valkenburgh

Michael van Valkenburgh is one of the most celebrated landscape architects working today. He has helped transform Chicago with the beloved designs of Maggie Daley Park at Millennium Park and The 606 trail. For One Bennett Park, Van Valkenburgh brings a sense of pastoral possibility to the urban environment and a welcome oasis amidst the heights of the city. The park is the peaceful counterpoint to the impressive tower — a vibrant and vital part of life here.

Van Valkenburgh’s lifelong dedication to landscape and its expression is evident in his diverse body of work which includes gardens, museums, parks and campuses, from the expansive Brooklyn Bridge Park to the intimate Monk’s Garden at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. He is the recipient of the Smithsonian Institution’s Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in Environmental Design.

The arts, as with any other discipline, can play a role in the courage of dreaming within the spaces we live.
